[attr="class","sitepostname"]BEAUTIFUL CREATURES [attr="class","sitepost1"] | Illness and Sickness Guide The wilderness can expose creatures to varying types of illnesses and injuries. Below is a comprehensive list of common, uncommon and rare injuries and illnesses you can get. i. common Wounds such as torn, cut or punctured flesh and muscle. These are very common injuries but could put a life at risk if severe enough. Wounds tend to be treated by pressing cold moss against the wound as a dressing. Pain relief such as Mugwort or Echinacea is also used in conjunction alongside aloe vera. The Aloe Vera helps prevent infection, depending on how severe the wound is. It also helps soothe the wound. Sprains and headaches - These can usually be cured with a lot of rest. Parsley and White Willow tend to be used most commonly for sprains and headaches as it is inflammatory. Joint dislocation - These must be treated by placing the joint back into place by the Shaman. Rest and pain relief like parsley or white willow tend to also be administered. Cracked paw-pads - These tend to occur when the ground is too hot/burning and/or from drying out. A chewed up yarrow poultice can be smothered across the dry paw-pads to prevent irritation and create a barrier; allowing the pad-pads to heal. Cracked paw-pads tend to take a few days to heal. Red hoof - (Laminitis) - This tends to affect creatures with hooves. This health issue can be caused by a variety of measures, some of which are; obesity, cold weather, excessive and/or over working. The hoof tends to be inflamed and standing often feels uncomfortable. Other symptoms include an increased heart rate and hot hooves. Broken bones - These can be tricky to heal and sometimes may not heal entirely correct. While wolves tend to have fairly strong bones and can usually recover fully, sometimes the break can be so severe that they are forced to retire early and/or take reduced duties. Moss along with sticks can be used to create a barrier between the broken bone and the external environment; giving it some form of stability so it can heal correctly. Echinacea helps put the creature in good spirits and reduce some of the pain. Broken bones can take several weeks to heal. Wolves with broken bones are usually bound to their home-cave/den. Joint aches and pains - These are fairly common but can be irritating. Overuse of muscles, poor sleeping, or shifting a muscle incorrectly could all cause joint aches and pains. A chewed Feverfew poultice rubbed into the joints is the best form of treatment. Arthritis - a common health problem which affects a creature's ability to move. The affected joints tend to swell and appear larger than normal, but the joints are in fact stiff and sore. Once arthritis sets in, it is unfortunately no cure for it. This health problem usually occurs with old age, but wear and tear, or another underlying health problem. A chewed Feverfew poultice rubbed into the joints is the best form of treatment along with a pain relief. Loss of senses such as sight, hearing or even limbs due to old age, birth defects, infections or accidents. Issues such as these do tend to end a creature’s career, but not always depending on the ruling of the King/Queen. Depending on the way in which the sense was lost; there may be no cure. But symptoms can be treated and pain relievers can be used. Toothache - A common and irritating problem, but can easily be treated by chewing the leafy stems of Aloe Vera and Yarrow. Scabies - Itchy and horrible little pests that jump all over the creature and bites it. Sometimes the bites even hurt a little bit! They are incredibly common, especially in the hotter months. Basil tends to be used to soothe the bites; rubbing the herb against the pelt of the creature to reduce the stinging and itchy sensation. Forest Fever - (Colic) - An intense abdominal pain caused by digestive issues in the stomach. This is more common for Eleos dynasty creatures, but not uncommon for others. Creatures suffering from this illness may also demonstrate anxiety, lack of appetite and sensitivity in the abdominal area. If the case is mild, then the creature can be treated with a mixture of Echinacea to reduce pain and sensitivity in the stomach and Parsley. Drydune Fever - A violent and dry cough; sore muscles and joints, nose streaming with mucus and sometimes even headaches. A very nasty illness that tends to occur in Winter mostly! This illness spreads quickly and can take down a whole pack for a week or so if it is not contained carefully. Medicines to help with this illness are Mugwort (reducing fever and pain) as well as honey for sore throats and Chamomile which aids a good night sleep. ii. uncommon Sour-Blood Fever (Parvovirus to humans) - An illness that causes vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and weight loss! Effectively, the creature’s body stops absorbing nutrients and the immune system becomes weak. This illness is not treatable however management with medication (like Mugwort, Echinacea, Milk Thistle, and Honey) monitoring can ensure the creature lives a fairly normal life. Dehydration and the weakened immune system are likely to be the cause of death for creatures with this illness. It is important to note that this illness is highly contagious, but is only transmitted through handling infected creatures feces. Bloodfire - Basically a parasite that lives within the creatures body which got there from eating bad or rotten food sources. Occasionally it can be contracted through freshwater snails, mayflies and dragonflies as well. Creatures with this illness often wail and cry out in pain. Symptoms are high fever, joint pain, weakness, blurred vision, even death. This illness is somewhat common - uncommon. It can be treated with Mugwort, chewing the leaves of Wormwood and the root of Valerian. A creature with Bloodfire will tend to be out of action for at least 3-5 days. [break] Red Death - (Heartworm) An illness which presents as a mild but constant cough. However, this develops into fatigue, weight loss, lack of appetite, and when it is at its worst: a swollen stomach and heart failure. This is a fatal illness. Creature's can be administered pain relief and medications to reduce the symptoms of the illness, but ultimately the creature will still die. [break] White-Mind- (Known as Dementia for Humans), an illness which causes the creature to become forgetful, violent and angered easily. Symptoms include bleeding, muscle growth, drooling, paranoia, delusions, pain in the chest and limbs. There is no cure and it only occurs in older creatures. iii. rare The Bazi Plague - A contagious illness caused by a virus. The virus causes the host to have really bad diarrhea, lack of appetite, dehydration, seizures, and fevers. This illness usually claims the victim's life as there is no known cure however if it targeted early, the virus can be eliminated however the chance is rather slim. Pain and fevers can be reduced with Mugwort and Feverfew. Stomach pains can also be reduced with Wormwood. Valerian is used for seizures and convulsions. **THIS ILLNESSES NEEDS EXPLICIT ADMIN APPROVAL IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHARACTER TO BE DIAGNOSED WITH THIS ILLNESS** [newclass=".sitepost1"]width:150px; height:350px; position:relative; left:0px; [/newclass][newclass=".sitepostname"]font-size:30px; text-align:center; line-height:150px; margin-top:125px; margin-left:-125px; width:400px; height:150px; transform:rotate(90deg); font-family:Cinzel;[/newclass][newclass=".sitepost1:before"]content: ''; border-bottom: 150px solid rgba(0,0,0,0); border-left: 150px solid #ccdedc; width: 0;[/newclass] |
